Overview
MemMaid is the Swiss Army Knife of PPC utilities. There are seven utilities built into this program. The main function of this program is to help keep your limited memory clear so your PPC will run as fast as possible. The program is divided into six tabs and several buttons.
Memory Cleaner
     
This tab is the main function of the program. It allows you to clean all the junk out of memory. Windows stores temporary files all over the place. These files take away space needed to store valid data, program storage and space to run programs. The program cleans these items for you.

Without MemMaid, you would need to open up File Explorer and pick through the folders looking for the junk files. As you can see by the screen shots, the program will do this for you. Click on the scan button and it will tell you how much memory it is able tp clear. Click on clean to finish. You can also configure the program to do a clean on system start. There is also an advanced mode where you can select the items you want to delete.
Cleaner Settings
You access this screen by tapping on the star button at the top of the screen. This gives you more cleaning options. Be sure you read the documentation before you start working with these options.
Notification Queue
 
This tab will display all active notification queues. These queues are generated by appointment alarms and other system activities. Duplicate queues can slow down your system. Click on the find duplicate button to find them. Be very careful on this screen and only delete queues that you know. While testing the program I deleted a queue and I wasn?t able to sync with my PC anymore. I had to do a hard reset to fix the problem.
Startup Programs
  
This tab shows all the programs that start at soft reset. These can be reordered, added and deleted. You can also look at services and Today Plug-ins. The Today Plug-in screen is useful. AgileMessenger didn?t show up in my Today screen or the plug-in screen, yet it showed up on this screen.
Memory Tweaking
This tab helps you configure some of the memory settings. You can move the IE cache folder to one of your memory cards. The size of the IE cache can be customized. MemMaid gives you a choice of 3 different sizes for the Font cache. Less memory means a slower display. You can also move the AvantGo cache folder to your memory card. These settings can be changed by doing registry edits, but this gives you a safer alternative.
Folders and Files sizes
  
This tab gives you a breakdown of all the folders and size of the folders in your system. This can be very useful when trying to figure out how much space data and programs are taking up. You can tap and hold any folder to call up File Explorer to further examine what?s in that folder. There is a configurable find option for doing detailed searches.
Running Processes Info
This tab shows all the running processes and how much memory is allotted for each. You have the option to terminate any running process. You should be cautious about terminating a process you do not know.
Tool Bar
The tool bar at the bottom of the screen has buttons for the following:

This screen is accessed when you tap on the Device Information box on the tool bar. It gives you hardware information about your system. This information includes storage card sizes.
Conclusion
This program is a handy addition to everyone?s set of utilities. You can search the internet for similar utilities that are freeware, but MemMaid is bundled up in one organized program. The program is easy to use. There is a good help file if you get stuck using the program. I use this program weekly for clean up and as needed when I do a lot of web browsing. I was very surprised the first time I used the memory cleaner to find close to 1M of space freed up on my PPC. My suggestion is to download the program and try it out over the trial period. You?ll see how useful it is.
